Query and import a local data file
Coordinator DB can read supported input formats from a confined server-side file source. This provides a concrete way to inspect a local dataset before importing it. It is not a documented object-storage catalog or automatic data-lake connector.
Place a regular CSV file beneath the configured user_files_path, then supply the decoding schema:
SELECT id, name
FROM file('people.csv', csv, 'id UInt64, name String')
WHERE id > 10
ORDER BY id
LIMIT 20;The SQL path is relative to the configured root. Absolute paths, parent traversal and escaping symlinks are rejected. Confined server file access currently requires Unix, and this source does not expand path patterns or archives.
Use INSERT ... SELECT to persist the selected rows in a defined table once their values and types have been checked. For a file on the client machine, choose the native client's FROM INFILE workflow or an HTTP upload rather than assuming the server can read the client's path.
Select a format based on its documented input support and value representation. The presence of a filename alone does not establish compatibility with every possible file schema.
