# Check installation prerequisites

Use the Coordinator DB installation guide as the source of installation prerequisites. The documented installer uses `curl` and `sh`; building from a source checkout is not required.

Follow the [installation procedure](https://coordinatordb.com/docs/get-started/setup/install) for its current prerequisites and commands. If a step fails, retain the first meaningful error, the exact command and the source you attempted to install. Later errors can be consequences of that first failure. Check that the documented prerequisites are present and that you ran the command from the expected directory before changing the environment.

After installation, follow the server startup instructions with the executable, `config.xml` and `users.xml` in the same directory. A successful installation is separate from a successful startup: missing configuration, invalid XML and unavailable listener addresses are runtime setup problems.

Report only the relevant command output and environment details, with private paths or credentials removed where necessary. Do not invent minimum tool versions or undocumented installer options when the public guide does not specify them.

See [installation](https://coordinatordb.com/docs/get-started/setup/install), [configuration validation](https://coordinatordb.com/docs/concepts/features/configuration/server-config/configuration-files) and [server startup](https://coordinatordb.com/docs/get-started/setup/self-managed/overview).
