# Other format settings

BSON strings, GeoJSON validation, and MessagePack UUID encoding.

Use a statement `SETTINGS` clause. Defaults in `system.settings` are read-only;
format settings cannot be persisted with `SET`. Put input settings before
`FORMAT`, because the bytes after the format name are input data.

## bson_strings

Type: `Bool`

Default value: `0`

Write text and fixed-width strings as BSON String instead of Binary.

Applies to: `bson_each_row`.

## geo_json_unsupported_geometry

Type: `String`

Default value: `throw`

Reject unsupported geometry types on input; null validates them and stores NULL when geometry is requested.

Applies to: `geo_json`.

## geo_json_validate_geometry

Type: `Bool`

Default value: `1`

Validate line lengths, ring lengths and closure, and nonempty geometry containers on input and output; coordinates must always be finite.

Applies to: `geo_json`.

## msg_pack_uuid_encoding

Type: `String`

Default value: `EXT`

Write UUID as EXT (extension type 2), BIN (16 binary bytes), or STR (canonical text).

Applies to: `msg_pack`.
