# vertical

## Description

Numbered rows with one labeled value on each line. This is output-only.

Output only. Select it with `FORMAT vertical`. Names ignore ASCII case; use the snake_case name shown here.

Each result row is numbered and displayed as a sequence of labelled values. This can make a wide result easier to inspect because every column has its own line.

It is a display format without an input decoder. Use a row or binary interchange format for round-trip storage.

```text
SELECT expressions FORMAT vertical;
```

## Example usage

```sql
SELECT CAST(7 AS Int64) AS id, 'Ada' AS name FORMAT vertical;
```

```text
Row 1:
──────
id:   7
name: Ada
```

## Format settings

Use a statement `SETTINGS` clause; these options are not persisted by `SET`.

There are no format-specific settings.
